Pokémon Battle Museum (ポケモンバトルミュージアム) are small but detailed figures made by Bandai that attach to black bases that come with stickers of the Pokémon's name, level, and other basic information. Many figures feature dynamic attack poses, and some figures were even clear instead of solid plastic. The series spans 13 sets with 12 figures each (13 for set 5 if you count both Smeargle variations), and ran from January 2000 to February 2001.

History

Starting in 1996, tiny Pokémon figures on (normally) interlocking stands were dispersed in Gashapon machines. These sets have changed over the years. The original sets were called Full Color Collection and Full Color Stadium, and contains the first 151 Pokémon, most having multiple poses. For the G/S/C promotion, Full Color Stadium became this series, Battle Museum, and stands changed to black with stickers for the Pokémon's name, and they interlocked horizontally. They also never completed this set, and some Pokémon did not get these figures. For R/S/E and FR/LG, TM Collection was released, which could go on stands, but were called pencil toppers. After this came a series called Full Color Advance, with Pokédex info and footprints printed onto a clear stand with a paper insert. The current set, starting with DP and going through Platinum, is called Chou Get and the interlocking stands are back, in 3D form (not flat) and multicolored. Since the Platinum release, some stands are clear and some figures have been re-released in platinum color.Source

Trivia

  • From sets 7 through 10, Unown were released in each set to promote that year's movie, Lord of the Unown Tower Entei/Spell of the Unown. The Unown were meant to spell out "ENTEI."
  • From July 7 to September 30 2000, Bandai held a Collector's Campaign for the series. Prize A was a collection box for Battle Museum figures, while Prize B was a special set of gold Raikou, gold Entei, and silver Suicune Battle Museum figures. Only 500 of each were awarded. There was also a special large Pikachu and Pichu Brothers figure for the promotion of the third Pokémon movie.
